Let Us Pray for Japan

Let Us Pray..
For all those lives lost in the disaster.
For all those people that lost someone in there families. Let them find peace.
For all those who Lost their homes. Give them strength to continue.
For those who suffered injuries.. May you relieve them from all pain.
To those who were not affected by  this natural disaster. Give thanks to the Lord.

Our Father, who
art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will
be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not into temptations, but deliver
us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

My Education

This weekend I was checking prices on Universities to further my education. I was amazed to see how expensive it was.  I am here thinking how I can afford it. Scholarships are hard to get? Do i have the grades? I wonder today how many are in my position ?  Will get back to you when i figure it out.

Facebook

Thinking back to when I first got my Facebook Account , I was away from my home town and the curiosity as to how everyone was doing was killing me.  I didn't do a good job at keeping in touch with old family and friends.  I opened it hoping I would hear about my family and friends.  Through the search box i tracked down most of my friends. Even most of my family was there. I was very excited.  I used to read on my spare time at work what they were up to, browsed their pictures.  It was great and I used to wish I was back home.  Yes it took alot of time away from other activities but it made me feel better.   I heard the other day of all the bad things people can do with a facebook account and it was pretty startling.  They can pose as others in an account. They can take pictures and edit , they can take your picture as their own.  To think about it we post  a lot of stuff that others can use to harm you.  It is very bad to be naive about these things because it happens to a lot of people. To think you can be the next victim. I went to look at the privacy settings and i was glad to see there are ways how to protect yourselves.  DO the smart thing.  Protect yourselves through the privacy settings in your accounts. Dont be another victim....

Offshore Drilling

Offshore Drilling in Belize Will Go to Referendum

Oceana made great strides last week in our fight to stopoffshore oil drillingin Belize’s crystal blue waters.
First, last week the Belizean government decided not to re-issue the offshore drilling concessions previously held by the Taiwan-based Overseas Petroleum Investment Corp. (OPIC), an offshore oil exploration company. In October, OPIC relinquished its permits to approximately 1.14 million acres off Belize’s coast.
And second, in response to a letter from Vice President of Oceana Belize, Audrey Matura-Shepherd, Prime Minister Dean Barrow agreed to put the matter of offshore drilling to a public referendum.
“It’s going to be historic either way it goes because it will be the first time we will be testing our referendum legislation and that government has actually stepped back and give their mandate for the people,” Matura-Shepherd said. “For that I really applaud the government.”
Oceana has become a leading voice in Belize against offshore drilling. Belize is home to the magnificent Belize Barrier Reef, and as such, offshore drilling would be devastating to the country’s tourism and fishing industry. What’s more, the people of Belize stand to gain very little from any oil exploration because the bulk of the wealth from oil extracted does not remain in the country.
While these developments are excellent news, Oceana will continue pushing hard in its campaign to stop offshore drilling in Belize
I admire the position that OCEANA is taking against offshore drilling.  Many people have seen its devastating effects.  Im all for progress but progress with less damage to the environment. One thing that i hope is that all Belizeans are aware of both outcomes before choosing whether to allow the Taiwanese to do offshore drilling exploration. Remember that many people live from Tourism and our Fishing Industry.  These are the industries who are more to suffer.  How about us Belizeans... do you guys want to go swimming in dark oily water?  What do you think... IF PICTURES CAN TALK..
